We create colourful, considered spaces that bring a sense of ease and wellbeing.
Origin Story
Before moving into interiors, Maya worked as a professional actor for over a decade, collaborating with the BBC, Royal Court, RSC and Old Vic among many others. She later won the First Novel Prize 2022 for her novel and has also been longlisted for several short story awards.
Studio Papaya grew organically after Maya transformed spaces for herself, friends, and family. As more people began asking for help with their own homes, what began as a personal passion gradually evolved into a design studio.
Today, Maya works closely with each client to create interiors that feel thoughtful, expressive, and deeply individual. Every project begins with understanding the person behind the space — their lifestyle, routines, tastes, needs, and aspirations — while also respecting the architecture and history of the building itself.
Although colour, artistry, and personality are recurring threads throughout the studio’s work, no two projects look the same.
Whether reimagining a layout, introducing colour with confidence, creating calm within multi-use spaces, improving storage, maximising natural light, or bringing greater character into a home, Studio Papaya believes good design should feel both beautiful and achievable.
For commercial projects, Maya collaborates with Kim Williams, who brings over a decade of experience designing and transforming bars, offices, restaurants, and hotels.
